“Its taken me a long time to get here....but here I am. My natural self,” - Lauren

I’m so excited to roll out our first series! Our Simply Beautiful series.

KKP Boudoir is *alllllll* about hyping you up to feel and look amazing during your boudoir session! We apply the lashes and lather on the lipstick - but I wanted to strip it down…well more than just the clothes.

I wanted to remind us that it is important to embrace our natural beauty. At the end of the day, under all the make up possible all we have is ourselves.

And while there is NOTHING wrong with enhancing – I think self-love is the strongest thing we can embody.

I reached out to handful of amazing women to help me share this message. I’m grateful for these strong women who let me photograph them basically face naked.

Lauren, 31

Confidence breeds beauty

Now let me introduce you to Lauren.

Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Friend, Dog Mom, Makeup Artist, the sweetest human alive.

“It’s easy to hide behind beautiful makeup or filters, why can’t it be just as easy to just be me?” Lauren said.

Ten years ago Lauren was in an emotional and mentality abusive relationship, of which she is still picking the pieces up from – even six years of getting away.

“I knew that I couldn’t be the mother and role model to my girls unless I loved myself and knew who I was,” she said.

Impressionable Daughters

Lauren has two daughters, 11 and 10 years old.

“I think this is an important lesson to not only learn myself, but teach them as well. Love the skin you’re in and embrace your beauty,” Lauren said.

“It doesn’t matter if you have so called “flaws” no one will even notice if you are confident, have a good attitude and smile.”

She strives everyday to be better than she was the day before to show her girls they can be confident and strong just like their mom.

Generations of Strength

Lauren's grandma used to use the phase “Stay Pretty” as a reminder that no matter what we have going on, what we are going through or how people treat us, you have the choice to be happy, to stay positive and not let anything dull your shine.

“Being “pretty” starts on the inside and that’s what people will see,” Lauren said.

Teaching Love

“I wanted to do the natural shoot to show people that just because I am a makeup artist and love wearing makeup - I still love my natural self!” Lauren said.

“I love who is underneath the lashes and lipstick! I think it’s important to teach that to our little girls and boys for that matter! That it is okay to not be perfect, and it is okay to have flaws- to be just be YOU!

Advice for 13-year-old Lauren

“I would tell myself to never give up who I am and the things I love,” she said.

“To always be me and not let anyone take that from me! Stand up, have a voice and fight for what you deserve!”

**UPDATE**

Since this post Lauren has received tons of feed back - unfortunately not all has been positive.

"Speaking out about my life is something I want to do to help other people that have experienced similar situations OR are currently in one, see that there is light at the end of the tunnel and you can get out. I love that I have the strength to help empower other people!

If you have a problem with that and you think it’s ok to run to my abuser and tell them things about my life...shame on you. You didn’t live my hell, you don’t know what I went thru and still go thru for that matter....it is MY PAST, MY LIFE NOW and MY TRUTH. Not yours.

I don’t care what you or that nameless person wants to say about me sharing my experience....especially because I’ve helped several women in the same situation AND it helps me see how strong I am now and reminds me that I can be ME, nobody can take that from me! I will keep telling my story, telling how its effected me, talking about mental health, healthy/unhealthy relationships, falling victim of a narcissist ect BECAUSE I CAN!
If you don’t like that....maybe you should look deep within yourself and find what’s wrong with you and stop treating people the way you do! You don’t get to treat someone like trash and then say you didn’t. You don’t get to hurt people and decide that you didn’t and they are lying.

I’m not a victim anymore....I’m a survivor!
You can call and yell at me, call me names, try to degrade me and make me feel like I’m below you or that I owe you something.....at the end of the day, I know who I am, I know who you are (the real you)....and you don’t control me anymore!
If any of you deal with things like this, I’m sorry! I wouldn’t wish this crap on anyone. It’s beyond exhausting. I am just tired of bending over backwards, and walking on eggshells to keep the peace. Why am I the one that has to do that? And for what? Because I still get treated like I’m a worthless pile of garbage. Damned if ya do, damned if ya don’t." -Lauren

How is it that I'm having to make another update on one of our blogs from people being haters?!

How is it that people are NOT okay with women being strong and standing up for themselves?!

How is it we have to constantly justify our actions?!

How is it that people can tell someone that their feelings do not matter!?

Lauren is out here speaking HER TRUTH!

She is busy being a voice for some that cannot find their own yet- she is paving the way for someone who needed that extra push to stand up.

Lauren we applaud your bravery.

You are helping more women than you know with your story.
