Creative Session: Butterfly
Sometimes you just need to dance… and someone in the room who is fully your number one fan.
Not every shoot has to be strategic.
Not every shoot has to be for content, marketing, or a client gallery. Sometimes you just create because it feels good.
I made a promise to myself this year that I would do more shoots just for me — the kind where there’s no pressure, no expectations, no perfectly planned outcome. Just movement, creativity, and letting the moment unfold.
As photographers and creatives, we spend so much time pouring into other people’s experiences. Which I truly love. Watching someone see themselves differently, helping someone step into their confidence, and creating images that capture who they are — that’s the magic.
But sometimes we need to step back into that creative energy for ourselves too.
Today was one of those days. Kate and I got together with no big plan other than to create and see what happened. Music playing, dancing, laughing, trying things just because they sounded fun in the moment. The kind of energy that reminds you why you started doing this in the first place.
Those are often the moments where the best ideas happen. There’s something really freeing about letting go of the “shoulds.” No pressure to get the perfect shot. No pressure to perform. Just being present in the process.
And honestly? Those moments of freedom are where the most authentic creativity tends to show up.
At KKP Boudoir, that same spirit is something we try to bring into every session. Yes, we plan. Yes, we guide. Yes, we help you feel confident in front of the camera. But there’s also space to laugh, move, dance, and just exist in the moment.
Because sometimes confidence doesn’t come from posing perfectly. Sometimes it comes from letting yourself be a little silly, a little free, and realizing someone in the room is cheering you on the whole time. Sometimes you just need to dance.
