"She leave a little sparkle whenever she goes."

- Kate Spade

We have all read this overused quote. It makes my eyes roll almost as bad as "Live • Laugh • Love" but I think I had such a negative view towards that quote because I had never met someone that actually did it - until Kara came into our life. We first met Kara during our bath tub sessions. She jumped at the chance to try someone thing new! Totally willing to do something fun and different - aka she posed in a giant bowl of cereal. Yup. You read that correct. Milk & Cereal. Kara was ready to be open and to FIND herself again.

Don't Let Anyone Dull Your Sparkle

"Happy isn't something that's always come easy for me," Kara said. Over the last few years Kara had found happiness to be a struggle. Those closest to her saw the light leave within her and the person they loved disappear.

"I can proudly say that I have worked my butt off to get that person back and it feels so good to actually feel joy again," Kara said. Her sisters feel they are finally getting their baby sister back.

"Mental illness is real and mine was exacerbated by a couple really hard traumas not everyone knows about," Kara said.

In 2014 she was sexually assaulted by a "friend's" husband and that's when the Kara -that she knew, disappeared.

"I became withdrawn and it led me to an unhealthy relationship which ended in miscarriage and tons more grief," Kara said. It has taken her years to learn how to love herself - while also leaning on God to bring her back to life. "Now I am in a better spot than I have been in years," Kara said.

Spread The Sparkle

When I got the itch to try something different with sparkles and glitter - Kara was automatically the first person I reached out too. Because as stupid as that quote sounds - she literally leaves a little sparkle everywhere she goes.

She has not only been an amazing advocate for KKP Boudoir since we met her but she has become our friend. I love the time we spend together and I'm so grateful she trusts us to help capture this stage of her life.

At KKP Boudoir we want to express that self-love is important - that knowing who you are and not giving a FUCK about what other people think.

Kara is that person and we are proud of the woman she is and who she continues to be.

**UPDATE**

Since this post Kara has received tons of feed back - unfortunately not all has been positive.

"To everyone with comments about my recent pictures, which are empowering art and a statement about body positivity and loving yourself. What I chose to do is none of your concern, people will talk and think what they want to think about me before and after these photos.

For the comments about these pictures going to get me hunted down and assaulted again, you're just feeding completely into rape culture and victim blaming. This is literally the reason people don't speak out when awful things happen to them, this is my way of taking my body and my life back.

If you don't like it, move along, unfollow or unfriend me. Either way, my form of art and self expression is for me and other woman to learn there is no need to be ashamed of your bodies. I worked hard to love and accept my body and learning that it is beautiful no matter what size.

I can only hope that this will give other women to learn to love and accept themselves.

I also want to add that this goes for all bodies. For the women who get told to eat a cheeseburger because they're too skinny, or the women who lift and are told they are too muscular or masculine - for all women in all body shapes and sizes. All bodies are good bodies! - Kara

It saddens me that we live in a space where this comment has to be made. Kara's bravery to embrace her body and love it has a radiant confidence that women all over the world want.

"You are so much better than this." - actual comment Kara received in disgust from a "friend."

At the end of the day we can't make everyone happy - and we can't sit here and assume everyone will accept what we do. But it should not be unreasonable to expect respect and understanding that everyone is different and no one is wrong.

Life is about choices and what choices you pick will lead you down your own life journey.

Thank you Kara for letting us cheer you on.

Now peep her glitter tits! (And if you don't like it ...then go away)
